Terrace House

The links below are to a series of short 'on-screen' movies that show stages in the development of a real job - a landscape design for the rear garden of a terrace house. the completed design is shown above.

Each movie is provided in two different formats - Windows WMV - for PC users and YouTube for both Windows and Mac users.

Tip  WMV movies play using Windows Media Player. This is normally part of Windows and pre-installed. Please make sure the close option in the download box is ticked not otherwise you may well download the file, but not play it. You want the option of selecting Open at the end of the download. The YouTube versions of each movie is at a lower resolution

The last movie in the list - 'Use the Pages Drop Down menu ..' is the most comprehensive and shows many of GardenCAD's more advanced features. It takes about 15 minutes to play, whereas the other movies are much shorter (2-3 mins in length).

Step 1 - Choose drawing commands

Step 2 - Set up a design grid

Step 3 - create irrigation tank and an entertaining area

Set a new 1200 mm design grid, define an area for adult entertaining, set up timber deck area. Install underground tank.

Step 4 - Create a wooden decking area

Define an area for a wooden deck. using the HATCH command.

Add and external drawing - some seating that gets incorporated as a block in a drawing. Using the INSERT command.
